Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Twenty-Four

For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Twenty-Four. Here is last week’s hotlist.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Jesus Bastidas – Bastidas has proven to be a nice pickup for the Astros this year. The infielder, who just turned 26, hit .364 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 8 runs batted in over 6 games for Sugar Land. Overall this season he has 31 doubles, 25 home runs and a .784 OPS in Triple-A.

Tommy Sacco – Sacco has been a steady player for in the system this season and earned a late season promotion to Triple-A. This week in five games he hit .267, but had 3 doubles, 4 runs batted in and drew five walks. He finished with a .784 OPS in 22 Triple-A games.

Miguel Palma – Palma also received a late season promotion to Triple-A, getting to play there the final week of the season. He made the most of it hitting .429 with a double and a run batted in over 4 games. The 22-year-old dealt with some injuries this year but still showed some potential.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Ryan Gusto – Gusto has been one of the best pitchers in the system since the calendar turned to June. This week in his one start he allowed 1 hit over 6 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. Since June 1st, he has posted a 2.08 ERA over 18 outings while racking up 98 strikeouts in 108 innings.

Colton Gordon – Gordon has really hit his stride recently and was good again this week. The left-hander made one start and allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings while striking out 7. Gordon has a 3.49 ERA with 87 K in 85 innings over his last 16 starts for Sugar Land.

A.J. Blubaugh – The last of the three-headed monster in Sugar Land, Blubaugh had another great outing this week. He went 5 scoreless innings while racking up 6 strikeouts. He finishes the regular season with a 3.71 ERA and 133 K in 128.2 innings including a 3.07 ERA over his final 8 starts.
