Astros Minor League Recap: September 7th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (86-50) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 4th inning on a Hummel RBI triple. Blubaugh got the start and was dominant striking out 9 over 6 innings allowing 1 run. The offense rallied for 3 runs in the 7th on a Cabbage RBI triple, Dezenzo RBI single and a run scoring on pickoff. The bullpen shut it down with 3 scoreless innings as they closed out the 4-1 win.

Note: Blubaugh has a 3.58 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (50-79) lost 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started for the Hooks but struggled allowing 4 runs over 2 innings. Ullola pitched in relief and struck out 7 over 3.1 innings allowing 2 more runs. The Hooks lone run came on an Arocho sac fly in the 4th inning. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 6-1.

Note: Ullola has 158 K in 122.1 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (51-78) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first inning scoring 3 runs on a Trimble RBI single, Morton RBI single and a run scoring on an error. They 2 more in the 5th on a Janek RBI double and Carrillo RBI single. Batista got the start and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense added one getting a Sherwin 2 run HR in the 8th and a Carrillo sac fly in the 9th. Leach closed it out tossing 2 scoreless innings as Asheville won 8-4.

Note: Huezo has a .836 OPS in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (54-74) won 11-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first scoring 4 runs without a hit, getting two runs on a wild pitches and two runs on an error. In the 4th, Bush connected on a 2 run HR. The offense got 2 more runs in the 5th on another Bush 2 run HR. Mayer got the start and went 3 innings allowing 1 unearned run with 4 strikeouts. Spence added a run in the 6th on an RBI single and they score 2 more in the 8th on a balk and a bases loaded walk to extend the lead. The bullpen allowed a few runs but closed out the 11-5 win.

Note: Bush has 8 HR, 45 RBI this season.
