Astros Minor League Recap: August 31st

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (81-49) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Brown made his Triple-A debut and allowed 4 runs over 4.1 innings. He was relieved by Mushinski who allowed 3 runs as the Bees extended their lead. The offense got a run in the 8th on a Leon bases loaded walk and a run in the 9th on a Corona RBI single but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Space Cowboys fell 8-2.

Note: Leon has 24 SB this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (48-75) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first scoring 3 runs on Price and Ferreras sac flies and an Espinosa RBI single. Pecko got the start and allowed 2 runs over 4.1 innings while striking out 6. Matthews added an insurance run with an RBI single in the 7th inning. The offense got 2 more in the 8th on an Espinosa bases loaded walk and Encarnacion sac fly. Guilfoil closed it out tossing 4 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts.

Note: Torres has a 0.00 ERA over his last 11 outings.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-73) lost 10-4 (BOX SCORE)

True got the start for Asheville but struggled allowing 6 runs over 3.2 innings. He was relieved by Sanchez who allowed 3 runs, though all were unearned. The offense got on the board in the 5th on an Encarnacion grand slam. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as Asheville fell 10-4.

Note: Gomez is hitting .313 in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (52-71) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning on a Powell 2 run HR. Marquez got the start and tossed 4 no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts. Mayer relieved Marquez and struck out 5 over 2.2 innings, but 2 runs came across after he was pulled. The RiverDogs got an unearned run in the 8th to take a 3-2 lead. The offense went down in order in the 9th as the Woodpeckers fell 3-2.

Note: Holy has 13 SB this season.
