Astros Minor League Recap: August 17th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (74-44) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring a run on a Narvaez solo HR. Kouba got the start but struggled allowing 5 runs, 4 earned over 4 innings of work. The offense got one back in the 5th on a Hamilton RBI single. Tamarez allowed a run in relief and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Sugar Land fell 6-2.

Note: Hamilton has a .825 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (41-71) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Santa got the start for the Hooks but struggled allowing 3 runs over 2 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring a run on an Espinosa RBI groundout. In the 5th, Cole connected on a 2 run HR. The Hooks would rally for 3 runs in the 5th on a Ferreras RBI single, Deming sac fly and Encarnacion RBI single. The pen allowed a couple of runs but were able to hold on for the 6-5 win.

Note: Cole has a .847 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (46-64) POSTPONED

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (49-62) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and was solid tossing 4 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board with a run in the 3rd on an error. Trehey pitched in relief allowing 3 runs in the 6th inning. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Woodpeckers fell 3-1.

Note: Rodriguez has a 2.57 ERA in Single-A.
