Astros Minor League Recap: August 11th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (73-40) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Kouba started for Sugar Land and tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit, though he did walk 5. The bullpen was great tossing 6 scoreless innings as the game went to extras. In the bottom of the 11th, Narvaez walked it off with an RBI single to win the series finale 1-0.

Note: Whitley has a 2.08 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (38-69) lost 10-1 (BOX SCORE)

Pecko started for the Hooks and allowed 2 runs over 3.1 innings. He was relieved by Santa who allowed 3 runs over 1.2 innings. The offense’s only run on the night came in the 5th on a Cerny RBI single. Guilfoil allowed 5 runs in relief and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 10-1.

Note: Espinosa is hitting .294 in August.


A+: Asheville Tourists (45-61) won 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

Pena started for Asheville and went 5 innings allowing 4 runs while striking out 8. The offense got on the board in the 3rd scoring a run on a balk. In the 6th, they picked up 2 runs on a Baez sac fly and Encarnacion solo HR. The pen allowed a couple of runs as the Hot Rods took the lead. Asheville got one back in the 8th on an Encarnacion RBI double. In the 9th, the offense rallied for 3 on a Cruz RBI groundout and a Baez walk-off 2 run double as Asheville won 7-6.

Note: Encarnacion is hitting .283 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (47-59) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Peralta got the start and allowed 3 runs while retiring just 1 batter. He was relieved by Rodriguez who allowed 1 run over 4.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Villarroel RBI single. They got 2 more in the 4th inning on a Schiavone 2 run HR, his first professional home run. Mercedes allowed a run before a delay. Bush went the final two innings scoreless but the offense was unable to score again as the Woodpeckers fell 5-3.

Note: Villarroel is hitting .291 in Single-A.
