Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Sixteen

For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Fifteen.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Narbe Cruz – Cruz has flown under the radar a bit, maybe since he doesn’t have big power, but the guy just hits. This week he showed off the power in Asheville connecting on 4 homers in 5 games. Overall he is hitting .266 in 48 games for Asheville.

Zach Dezenzo – Dezenzo was promoted to Triple-A this week and had a great debut. In five games for Sugar Land, he hit .455 with 2 doubles, 2 homers and 7 runs batted in. He is hitting .301 overall this season with a .860 OPS.

Brice Matthews – Matthews has really been heating up recently, and he put together a strong week for the Hooks. The 22-year-old hit .300 with 2 doubles, a homer, 3 runs batted in and 2 stolen bases. He’s hitting .293 with a .931 OPS overall this season.

Collin Price – Price has quietly had a solid season between High-A and Double-A. He is up to 11 HR and a .774 OPS after having a strong week where he hit .357 with a double, 2 homers and 4 runs batted in.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Ryan Gusto – Gusto has been absolutely rolling recently. This week in his one start he went 7 innings allowing just 1 run. He has a 1.51 ERA since the beginning of June, holding batters to a .198 BAA.

James Hicks – Hicks turned in his best outing in Double-A this week, striking out 5 over 5 innings while allowing 1 run. Overall, he has a 3.50 ERA with 86 K in 79.2 innings across three levels this season.

Trey Dombroski – After a rough start to the year, Dombroski has been on a roll. This week he went 5 innings allowing 1 unearned run. He has a 0.92 ERA over his last 4 outings earning a promotion to Double-A.

Nic Swanson – Swanson had a great outing this week for Asheville, tossing 5 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. Overall this season he has racked up 76 K in 77.2 innings in High-A.
