Astros Minor League Recap: July 13th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (58-33)

Game 1 – lost 10-4 (BOX SCORE)

Greene started game one for Sugar Land but struggled allowing 4 runs in 2.1 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 2nd on a Berryhill RBI single. They got 2 more in the 4th on a Berryhill walk and Bastidas groundout. Leon homered in the 9th but the pen struggled allowing 6 more runs as Sugar Land dropped game one 10-4.

Note: Leon has 17 HR this season.

Game 2 – won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Lauer started game two and went 4.1 innings allowing 2 runs, both unearned. Bastidas put Sugar Land on the board with a solo HR in the 4th. In the 6th, he tied the game with another solo HR. The bullpen tossed 2.2 scoreless and in the 7th, Hensley walked it off with a 3 run HR.

Note: Bastidas has 20 HR this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (30-55) won 12-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first scoring 2 runs on a Price 2 run HR. They got another in the 3rd on a Melton solo HR. In the 4th, they blew it open scoring 6 runs on an Arocho walk, Brewer sac fly, Williams 2 run single, a wild pitch and a Melton RBI single. Ullola got the start and tossed 5.1 no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts. The offense got a couple more in the 6th on bases loaded walks to Corona and Cole. Dezenzo added an RBI double in the 7th. The pen allowed some runs but were able to hold on for the 12-6 win.

Note: Melton has a .767 OPS this season.

A+: Asheville Tourists (37-46) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Swanson got the start for Asheville and allowed 3 runs over 5.1 innings with 6 strikeouts. Asheville’s lone run came in the 8th inning on a Cruz RBI single. The pen allowed a couple of runs and the offense was unable to score again as the Tourists fell 5-1.

Note: Cruz is hitting .272 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (39-47) won 11-3 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers jumped out to a huge lead in the first inning scoring 9 runs on an Ochoa walk, Casserilla hit by pitch, Hernandez 2 run double, Jaworsky RBI single, Nunez walk, Villarroel 2 run single and Gomez sac fly. Nezuh got the start and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 8. The offense got 2 more runs in the 7th on a Diaz RBI single and Hernandez sac fly. Sanchez and Mercedes closed out the 11-3 win.

Note: Nezuh has 105 K in 81.2 innings this season.
