Astros Minor League Recap: June 27th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (51-27) won 9-6 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first on a Leon RBI single. They got another run in the 4th on a Hamilton RBI single. Blubaugh got the starts and allowed 2 runs over 6 innings. In the 5th, Leon added an RBI single. The pen allowed a few runs as the Rainiers took a 6-3 lead. The offense would rally in the 8th. They got a Machado bases loaded walk, Wrobleski groundout and Hamilton RBI single to tie it. Then Whitcomb connected on a 3 run HR to give Sugar Land the lead. Ort tossed a scoreless 9th to close out the 9-6 win.

Note: Whitcomb is hitting .320 with a .986 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (27-45) lost 9-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board on a Cole 2 run HR in the 3rd inning. Rodriguez got the start and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned over 4 innings. The Hooks picked up a run in the 5th on a Sacco RBI double and a Ferreras RBI groundout in the 6th. The pen struggled allowing 7 runs as the Hooks fell 9-4.

Note: Corona has 17 SB this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (32-38)

Game 1 – lost 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board with a solo HR to leadoff the game. Batista got the start and allowed 5 runs over 4 innings. The pen allowed another 4 as the Hot Rods took a 9-1 lead. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as Asheville dropped game one.

Note: Cerny has a .757 OPS this season.

Game 2 – won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first inning on a Baez solo HR. Pecko got the start and was solid allowed 1 run over 4 innings while striking out 5. In the 5th, Baez connected on another homer, this time a 3 run shot to take a 4-1 lead. The bullpen tossed 3 scoreless innings to close out the win.

Note: Baez is hitting .293 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (32-40) lost 5-0 (BOX SCORE

Tredwell got the start and went 3 scoreless innings, though he walked 5. He was relieved by Rodriguez who allowed 3 runs over 2.2 innings. Petschke also pitched in relief allowing 2 runs. The offense struggled collecting just 3 hits as they were shutout in the 5-0 loss.

Note: Ochoa has a .715 OPS this season.
