Astros Minor League Recap: June 14th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (44-23) won 10-8 (BOX SCORE)

The offense got on the board scoring 3 runs in the 4th inning on a Whitcomb RBI groundout, Hensley RBI double and Machado RBI double. Henley got the start and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5 innings of work. The offense got 2 more runs in the 5th on a Kessinger 2 run single. The pen was great tossing 4 no-hit innings as they closed out the 5-2 win.

Note: Leon has 58 RBI in 62 games this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (23-38) won 11-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks came out swinging early scoring 5 runs in the 2nd inning on a Corona solo HR, Ferreras RBI single, Correa RBI double and Sacco 2 run HR. They got 4 more in the 3rd on 2 run doubles from Ferreras and Espinosa. Ullola got the start and struck out 9 over 3.2 innings while allowing 2 runs. Ferreras added 2 more runs in the 7th with a 2 run single. The pen closed it out tossing scoreless innings in the last 4 as the Hooks won 11-3.

Note: Ullola has 84 K in 61.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (26-32) lost 13-4 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 2nd inning on an Encarnacion 2 run HR. Batista started for the Tourists but struggled allowing 8 runs over 3 innings. Asheville got one back in the 6th on a Johnson solo HR and another in the 7th on a Matthews RBI groundout. The pen allowed a few more runs and the offense was unable to score again as Asheville fell 13-4.

Note: Cerny has 13 SB this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (26-35) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers got on the board with a Santander RBI single in the first inning. Pecko got the start for Fayetteville and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, while striking out 6. Nezuh pitched in relief allowing 2 runs over 4 innings with 5 strikeouts. The offense got a Bush sac fly in the 7th and a Hernandez RBI triple in the 8th, but that was it as the Woodpeckers fell 5-3.

Note: Pecko has a 2.31 ERA this season.
