Astros Minor League Recap: June 13th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (43-23) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

The offense got on the board scoring 3 runs in the 4th inning on a Whitcomb RBI groundout, Hensley RBI double and Machado RBI double. Henley got the start and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5 innings of work. The offense got 2 more runs in the 5th on a Kessinger 2 run single. The pen was great tossing 4 no-hit innings as they closed out the 5-2 win.

Note: Contreras has a 1.40 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (22-38) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Knorr started for the Hooks striking out 6 over 5 innings, but allowing 4 runs. The Hooks got on the board in the 5th on an Arocho RBI single. Mancini pitched 3 innings in relief allowing 1 unearned run but the offense was quiet the rest of the night as the Hooks fell 5-1.

Note: Mancini has a 0.00 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (26-31) lost 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

Swanson started for Asheville but struggled allowing 6 runs over 4.2 innings. The offense got on the board with 2 runs in the 4th on a Deming solo HR and Guillemette RBI double. After the Drive picked up 2 more, the Asheville offense responded with three runs on a Cerny bases loaded walk, a Deming hit by pitch and a Garcia RBI groundout. That would be it from the offense though as Asheville fell 8-5.

Note: Deming has a .890 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (26-34) lost 12-6 (BOX SCORE

Mejia started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 2 runs over 3.1 innings. After falling behind 6-0, the offense rallied for 5 runs in the 5th on a Bush RBI single and Nunez grand slam. Marte struggled in relief allowing 10 runs as the Woodpeckers found themselves in a huge hole. The offense got one back in the 9th on a Diaz sac fly but that was it as the Woodpeckers fell 12-6.

Note: Santa has 22 K in 12.2 innings this season.
