Astros Minor League Recap: August 8th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (46-35) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

France started for the Skeeters and pitched well striking out 8 over 6 innings while allowing just 2 runs. Shaver put the Skeeters on the board with a solo HR in the 7th and Garcia followed that up with a solo HR in the 8th to tie it up at 2. After a scoreless inning from Ferrell, Blanco pitched the 8th and allowed a run as Round Rock took the lead. The Skeeters went down in order in the 9th as they lost 3-2.

Note: Brown has 88 K in 60.2 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (40-44) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Julks got this game started off right with a leadoff HR to put the Hooks up 1-0. Later in the first Adolph added an RBI single. Daniels got the start for Corpus Christi and went 6 innings allowing just 1 run. Adolph added some insurance with an RBI double in the 8th. Mushinski tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief and Olzcak picked up the save with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Adolph is hitting .261 with a .852 OPS this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (35-46)

Game 1 – lost 9-3 (BOX SCORE)

Macuare started and went 1 inning allowing 2 runs. He was relieved by Bravo who allowed 7 runs over 5 innings of work. Berryhill put the Tourists on the board in the first with an RBI double. In the 4th, they got another run on a Dirden RBI triple. Dirden added a sac fly in the 6th but that was it for the offense as the Tourists dropped game 1, 9-3.

Game 2 – won 9-4 (BOX SCORE)

Cody started game 2 for the Tourists and allowed 3 runs over 3.2 innings. Daniels put the offense on the board in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2 run single. The Tourists blew it open scoring 5 runs in the 4th on a Valdez RBI double, a run scoring on a wild pitch and a 3 run double by Correa. Valdez added a solo HR in the 5th. Jimenez pitched the last 3.1 innings allowing 1 unearned run as he closed it out.

  • J.C. Correa, SS: 1-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI
  • C.J. Stubbs, C: 1-for-3, R, 2B
  • Enmanuel Valdez, 3B: 2-for-3, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI
  • Justin Dirden, CF: 2-for-3, 2 R
  • Deury Carrasco, DH: 1-for-2, 2 R, 2B, BB

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (37-46) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Gomez started for the Woodpeckers and went 5 innings allowing 1 run. Robaina tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief before Hiraldo allowed a run in the 9th. The offense struggled though picking up just 2 singles on the night as they were shutout in the 2-0 loss.

Note: Robaina has 46 K in 44.2 innings this season.
