Astros Minor League Recap: June 8th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (18-10) lost 9-6 (BOX SCORE)

Solomon started and allowed 3 runs over 2.2 innings. The offense got the scoring started getting 3 runs in the 2nd inning on a Shaver 3 run HR. They got another run in the 3rd on a Quintana RBI double. In the 4th, Meyers added a solo HR, his 6th of the season. Papierski would add a sac fly in the 5th to give them a 6-3 lead. The bullpen struggled though with Eades allowing 5 runs and Scrubb allowing a run as OKC won this one 10-6.

Note: Meyers is hitting .300 with 6 HR this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (14-16) won 10-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks offense started early getting four 4 runs in the first on a Gonzalez RBI groundout, Hensley RBI single and Adams 2 run HR. In the 2nd inning, they got another run on a Leon solo HR. Gonzalez added an RBI double in the 4th for the 6th run. Daniels started and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs. Rosado allowed 4 runs in his 1.2 relief innings. In the 7th Leon connected on an other HR, this time a 2 run shot. The offense added some more insurance in the 9th with a Matijevic RBI groundout and Gonzalez RBI single. Lawson closed it out with 2.1 scoreless innings.

Note: Leon is hitting .474 with 3 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI in June.


A+: Asheville Tourists (13-16) Suspended due to rain


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (13-17) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Gomez started for the Woodpeckers and went 3 scoreless innings. The offense got their runs early getting a leadoff HR from Whitcomb in the first and 2 runs in the 3rd on a Martinez RBI single and Rodriguez RBI single. Reina tossed 2.2 scoreless innings and Melendez closed it out striking out 7 over 3.1 scoreless innings.

Note: Melendez has a 0.49 ERA with 38 K in 18.1 innings this season.
