Astros Minor League Recap: June 19th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (23-15) lost 15-2 (BOX SCORE)

Hartman got the start and allowed 5 runs over 2.2 innings. He was relieved by Olczak who allowed 2 runs over 2.1 innings. Martes came in next and really struggled allowing 7 runs while retiring just 2 hitters. Meyers put the Skeeters on the boar din the 8th with a solo HR and Lee added an RBI single in the 9th but the Skeeters still lost this one 15-2.

Note: Meyers is hitting .286 with 9 HR this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-22) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Daniels started for the Hooks and ran into some trouble in the 4th allowing 4 runs as he was unable to get out of the 4th. In the 5th, the Hooks tied it up on a Lee grand slam and then Taylor went back to back with Lee to give the Hooks a 5-4 lead. Tejada relieved Daniels and allowed 2 runs in 1.1 innings of work. Rosado tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief but the RoughRiders got another off DeJuneas in the 9th. The Hooks loaded the bases in the bottom of the 9th but Gonzalez flew out to end it.

Note: Leon is hitting .333 in June.


A+: Asheville Tourists (17-23) lost 19-4 (BOX SCORE)

The offense picked up 2 runs in the 2nd on an Orr sac fly and Nova RBI single. Stubbs added a solo HR in the 4th and in the 6th, Abreu added an RBI double. The pitching really struggled as the IronBirds picked up 19 runs on 21 hits. Not much else to get into for this game.

Note: Stubbs is hitting .455 in 3 games for the Tourists.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-25) lost 10-6 (BOX SCORE)

Pruitt made his second rehab start and struggled in this one as he allowed 3 runs over 1.1 innings. He was relieved by Gomez who went 4.1 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 5. The offense got their first run in the second on a wild pitch. They picked up another run in the 5th on a Whitcomb RBI single. In the 6th they got another run on a Ramirez RBI groundout. Martinez added a sac fly in the 7th to make it a 5-4 game. Reina was next in the game but he allowed 5 runs over 1.2 innings. The offense got 2 back in the 9th on a Martinez RBI groundout and Correa RBI single but it wasn’t enough as they lost 10-6.

Note: Whitcomb is hitting .291 with 13 SB this season.
