Astros Minor League Recap: June 15th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (21-14) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Donato got the start and allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in his 5 innings of work. Toro put the Skeeters on the board in the first inning with a solo HR, his 2nd of the year. In the 3rd, the Skeeters got 3 more runs on De Goti and Toro RBI doubles and another run scoring on an error. The game was called after five innings due to rain.

Note: Toro is hitting .352 with 11 RBI in 17 games this season.

  • Chad Donato, RHP: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 K (WIN)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (17-19) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Mushinski got the start for Corpus Christ and was dominant as he tossed 6 scoreless innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 11. Korey Lee, who was making his AA debut, connected on a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 7th to give the Hooks a 2-0 lead. Gonzalez added an insurance run in the 8th to make it 3-0. McKee tossed 2 scoreless in relief and Serrano closed it out get the save.

Note: Lee is hitting .330 with 4 HR, 16 RBI this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (16-20) won 13-5 (BOX SCORE)

Bravo got the start for the Tourists and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. The offense came out hot picking up 4 runs in the first inning on a Perez 2 run double, Valdez RBI single, and Holderbach sac fly. McKenna added a solo HR in the second, his 10th HR of the season. The Tourists got 2 more in the 3rd on a Holderbach 2 run single. They got another in the 4th on a Schreiber RBI single and then 2 more in the 5th on Nova and Barefoot RBI singles. Lopez relieved Bravo and went 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs with 8 strikeouts. The offense finished off the game scoring 3 more in the 8th on Schreiber and Valdez RBI singles and another run scoring on a sac fly. Conn 1.1 shutout innings to close it out.

Note: Perez is hitting .327 with 1.007 OPS in 26 games this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (14-22) lost 11-2 (BOX SCORE)

Pruitt made a rehab start for the Woodpeckers and went 1 inning allowing 1 unearned run. He was relieved by Robaina who allowed 5 runs over 3 innings. Jimenez came in next and went 3.2 innings allowing 3 runs, but just 1 earned. The Woodpeckers got their first run in the 6th on a Daniel RBI groundout. They would get another in the 9th on a Whitcomb RBI groundout but that was it as Fayetteville dropped this one 11-2.

Note: Whitcomb has 8 SB this season.
