Astros Minor League Recap: May 15th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (7-2) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Hartman started for the Skeeters and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense got the scoring started in the 3rd when they got a run on a double play and a 2 run HR from De Goti. De Goti added an RBI triple in the 5th and Stubbs added an RBI double in the 6th to make it 5-2. McKee tossed a scoreless inning in relief. Torres was next up and while he struck out 5, he allowed 5 hits and 4 runs in 2.1 innings as the Express took a 6-5 lead. The Skeeters put three on in the 9th, but Siri struck out with the bases loaded and Sugar Land lost 6-5.

Note: Meyers is hitting .353 through 7 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-7) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Rosado started for the Hooks and struggled as he allowed 8 hits and 5 runs in just 3.2 innings. He was relieved by Horrell who allowed 3 runs, 1 earned, in 2.1 innings. The Hooks picked up their first run in the 5th on a wild pitch. They got another in the 8th on a Taylor HR but it wasn’t nearly enough. Hernandez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief but the Hooks lost 8-2.

Note: Hernandez has 10 K in 7 innings in relief this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (4-6) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Lopez started for the Tourists last night and allowed 3 runs in 3 innings of work. He was relieved by Rivera who was dominant tossing 3.2 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. Asheville put up 2 runs in the 3rd on an Orr RBI double and a Valdez sac fly. They added another run in the 6th on a Schreiber RBI single. Conn tossed 2.2 scoreless innings with 5 K as the game moved to extra innings. Ceballos was up next and though he got out of the jam in the 10th, he walked 3 and gave up a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 11th.

Note: Rivera has a 1.35 ERA with 11 K in 6.2 innings.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (5-6) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Gomez, who was signed as an UDFA after the 2020 draft, had his second solid outing of the season tossing 5 innings and allowed just 1 run. He was relieved by Drennan who tossed 3 scoreless innings and Mezquita who had 1 scoreless. Unfortunately the offense really struggled and while they collected 7 hits, they were 0-for-4 with RISP and dropped this game 1-0.

Note: Barefoot is hitting .317 with 7 XBH in 11 games this season.
