Astros Minor League Recap: June 17th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (42-28) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bielak started and had a good outing allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work. Tacoma scored 2 more runs of McCurry in the 7th to go up 3-0. The Express got two runs in the 8th on a Ferguson RBI triple and Reed RBI groundout. The Express loaded the bases in the 9th but were unable to score and lost 3-2.

Note: Ferguson is hitting .433 with 10 XBH in 15 games in June.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (33-36) won 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

Bailey started for the Hooks and pitched great tossing 5 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. Toro put the Hooks on the board in the first inning with an RBI single. In the 3rd, they picked up 2 more runs on a Toro RBI double and Beer RBI single. The Hooks picked up 2 more runs on an error in the 6th. Duarte added 2 runs of insurance in the 8th on a 2 run HR. McHugh allowed a run in relief but DeJuneas and McKee closed it out with scoreless outings.

Note: Bailey last 3 outings – 12.2 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 16 K.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (31-38) OFF


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (43-23) OFF


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (1-2) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Note: This was Lupe’s first outing since August 29th, 2016.
