Astros Minor League Recap: June 14th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (40-27) lost 16-3 (BOX SCORE)

Urquidy got the start and continued his great walk to strikeout rate with 1 BB/8 K over 6 innings while allowing 3 runs. The offense brought the long ball a bit connecting on three solo HRs from Reed, McCormick, and Ritchie. Unfortunately, they didn’t get anything else going. The game was close in the 7th but Aces blew it open scoring 11 runs in the last 2 innings.

Note: Urquidy has 13 BB/88 K in 64.2 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (32-34) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Javier started for the Hooks and allowed 4 runs over 6.2 innings with 6 strikeouts. 3 of those runs came on a 3 run HR. The Hooks picked up a run in the first on a Beer sac fly and another in the 3rd on a Dawson solo HR, his 8th HR of the season. The offense was unable to mount a comeback though as they lost 4-2.

Note: Abreu has 40 K in 32 AA innings this season.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (30-37) won 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Hansen got the start and started out well but 3 runs in the 4th. He ended up going 4 innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) with 5 strikeouts. Shaver put the Woodpeckers on the board with a sac fly in the 1st. In the 5th, trailing 4-1, Adams connected on a grand slam to put them in front 5-4. They picked up another run in the 8th on a wild pitch. Dubin closed it out tossing 5 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts.

Note: Adams has 11 HR, 42 RBI in 57 games this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (41-23) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

The River Bandits jumped out to an early lead on a Dawson RBI single in the 2nd inning. Daniel started and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings. The bullpen was solid with scoreless outings from Conn and Gonzalez. In the 9th inning Dawson added another RBI single to make 3-2 but the River Bandits were unable to pick up another run and lost by that final score.

Note: Nova is hitting .444 with 5 RBI over his last 7 games.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (0-1) lost 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

  • Angel Macuare, RHP: 3.2 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
  • Valente Bellezo, RHP: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
