Astros Minor League Recap: April 12th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (6-3) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Martin made his second AAA start and this one went a lot better than the first. He went 5.2 innings allowing just 1 hit, 1 run and struck out 9. The 1 run scored after he left the game too. Mayfield put the Express on the board in the first with an RBI single. The Express would enter the bottom of the 8th down 2-1 but rallied scoring 1 run on a Straw groundout and 2 more runs on a Fisher 2 run HR. Valdez pitched a perfect 9th, striking out 2, as he picked up the save.

Note: Fisher has 5 HR, 10 RBI in 8 games this season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (3-6) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night the Hooks offense. Ivey got the start and was pitching really well (2 IP, 3 K) but was tossed after the home plate umpire inspected his glove for a foreign substance. He was relieved by McKee who struggled allowing 3 runs in 2.1 innings. The only run the offense scored was in the first inning on a Toro RBI single. Scheetz and Feldmann both had scoreless outings in relief.

Note: Ivey has 8 K in 6 innings this season.

A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (5-4) lost 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

The game started rough for France as he allowed 3 runs in the first inning and only retired 2 hitters. He was relieved by Rodrguez who allowed 2 runs of his own putting the River Bandits in a quick hole. They did manage to score 1 run in the 2nd on a Papierski RBI single. The offense only managed three other hits on the night. The rest of the bullpen was solid despite 7 walks in 6.1 innings.

Note: Manea is hitting .346 in 7 games.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (5-3) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Deason started for the River Bandits and allowed 2 runs over 4.1 innings. The offense would keep pace though scoring one in the 4th on a Salazar RBI single and one in the 5th on a Costes RBI triple. In the 6th the offense exploded for five runs thanks to a Salazar RBI double, Schreiber RBI double, Adolph RBI double, Dawson RBI single, and another run scoring on a wild pitch. Freure relieved Deason and allowed 1 run over 2.2 innings. Collado closed it out with 2 scoreless innings.

Note: Schreiber is off to a nice start hitting .346 in 8 games.
