Astros Minor League Recap: July 31st, 2018

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (63-45) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (67-41) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Martin started for the Hooks and was phenomenal. He started the game with 6.2 perfect innings before allowing a single. He finished going 7 innings allowing just the 1 hit, no runs, and struck out 8. The Hooks got one run in the first on a Cesar RBI single. The offense struggled for the next 6 innings finding themselves down 3-1 after Pinales allowed 3 runs in the 8th. They would rally for 4 runs though on a de Oleo RBI single, Wrenn RBI single, and Cesar 2 run single. Blanco picked up the save allowing a run in the 9th.

Note: Martin has a 1.91 ERA with 25 BB/92 K in 94 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (60-47) won 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Solomon made his Buies Creek debut tossing 4 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts before a rain delay shortened his outing. Buies Creek got on the board in the 3rd on an Arauz RBI triple and Julks sac fly. They would pick up 3 more in the 5th on a De La Cruz 2 run single and Robinson RBI double. Matijevic added some insurance with a solo HR in the 7th, his 14th of the season. Valdez relieved Solomon and went 3 innings allowing 2 runs. Ramirez closed it out with 2 scorless innings.

Note: Matijevic is hitting .313 with 3 HR over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (59-48) lost 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night for Quad Cities. Rodriguez got the start and pitched well initially but ran into some trouble allowing 6 runs in the 4th inning. He was relieved by Paulino who allowed 2 runs in 3.1 innings. The River Bandits only managed 1 run in the game which came on a Taylor HR in the 4th. They were unable to get anything else going as they lost 8-1.

Note: Duncan has 50 K in 41.2 innings this season.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (25-18) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Note: McKenna is hitting .333 with 4 HR, 10 RBI over his last 10 games.
