Astros Minor League Recap: August 26th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (77-55) won 10-9 (BOX SCORE)

Emanuel started for Fresno but really struggled allowing 6 runs in 3.1 innings. He was relieved by Sneed who allowed 3 runs, 1 earned over 3.2 innings. Fresno got on the board on a bases loaded walk to Marisnick in the 2nd inning. The Grizzlies picked up 3 runs in the 6th on a De Goti RBI single and a Marisnick 2 run single. They rallied in the 7th to score 5 runs on a Ritchie RBI single, De Goti RBI double, Straw 2 run single, and Marisnick RBI double. Salt Lake would tie the game in the 8th forcing the game to extras. In the bottom of the 10th Tucker came through again with a walk-off RBI single to win it.

Note: Tucker is hitting .468 with 9 HR, 19 RBI over his last 10 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (79-51) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Devenski made another rehab start and allowed 3 hits and 1 run in 1 inning. He has allowed a run in all three of his rehab outings with the Hooks. Bailey relieved Devo and was great going 7 innings allowing just 1 unearned run with 8 strikeouts. McCann put the Hooks on the board in the 4th with a 2 run HR. The Hooks picked up another run in the 5th on a Quintana RBI single. McCann added some insurance with an RBI single in the 7th. Scheetz tossed a scoreless 9th to pick up the save.

Note: Bailey has a 2.53 ERA with 133 K in 117.1 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (74-55) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

JB got the start for Buies Creek and while he allowed 3 runs, he struck out 8 over 5 innings. All 3 runs came in the first inning, but the offense responded in a big way. In the bottom of the first, Buies Creek scored 7 runs on a Julks solo HR, Shaver 2 run single, De La Cruz 2 run triple, Meyers RBI double, and Canelon sac fly. Matijevic added an RBI double in the 8th for the 8th run of the game. The bullpen was solid and hung on for the 8-4 win.

Note: Bukauskas has a 1.61 ERA with 31 K in 28 innings for Buies Creek.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (75-58) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Abreu started for Quad Cities and struggled a bit allowing 2 runs in 2 innings. Schreiber got the River Bandits on the board in the 4th with an RBI triple to make it 3-1. Quad Cities only scored one more run during the game in the 6th on an Angarita RBI single. Hardy was great in relief but the River Bandits lost 4-2.

Note: Hardy has 21 K in 10.2 innings for Quad Cities.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (38-28) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)
