Astros Minor League Recap: August 19th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (72-54) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Emanuel started for Fresno but struggled allowing 6 runs in 3 innings. He was relieved by Sneed who tossed 4 scoreless innings. Fresno started a rally in the 7th inning scoring 3 runs on a Stubbs RBI single, Jones RBI single, and Mayfield sac fly. They picked up another run in the 8th on a De Goti bases loaded walk, but that is all they would score as they lost 6-4.

Note: Davis is hitting .441 with 7 HR, 18 RBI over his last 10 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (76-48) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tough luck loss as the game only last through the top of the 5th, but it was enough for the game to count when the rain came down. Whitley started and allowed 1 run over 3.1 innings while tossing 45 pitches. A step in the right direction for him. The offense managed just 2 hits during the game.

Note: Benedetti has a .827 OPS in 69 games for the Hooks this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (70-53) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Hernandez started for Buies Creek and was roughed up allowing 5 runs, 4 earned over 5 innings. The offense struggled early but started to get things going a bit scoring 3 runs in the 6th on a Julks RBI single, Matijevic RBI single, and Robinson sac fly. They would pick up one more in the 9th on a Canelon RBI single but ultimately lost 5-4.

Note: DeJuneas has a 1.69 ERA since joining the Astros organization.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (71-55) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Donato started for Quad Cities and dominated striking out 11 over 7 shutout innings while allowing just 1 hit. The offense only scored 1 run, a Taylor RBI double in the 5th inning. Paulino pitched the final two innings picking up the save in the combined shutout.

Note: Donato has a 1.63 ERA with 77 K in 66 innings this season.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (33-27) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)
