Astros Minor League Recap: July 3rd, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (49-35) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Sneed started for Fresno last night and continued his solid pitching tossing 6.1 scoreless innings while striking out 7. The offense got the scoring started on a Davis RBI single in the first inning. Fresno picked up 2 more in the 2nd on a Nunez sac fly and Tucker RBI groundout. Kemmer led off the 3rd with a HR to make it 4-0. Tanielu added an RBI double in the 8th to make it 5-0. Bushers and Ferrell both had scoreless outings in relief to close it out.

Note: Sneed has a 2.33 ERA with 13 BB/66 K in 64.2 innings over his last 10 outings.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (52-29) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a Quintana 3 run HR in the first inning. Perez got the start and matched a career high with 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Alvarez added an RBI single in the 3rd inning to give the Hooks another run. Sierra relieved Perez and closed it out with 2 scoreless innings.

Note: Perez has a 2.10 ERA with 75 K in 64.1 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (46-36) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey started for Buies Creek last night and ran into some trouble in the 3rd inning allowing 3 runs on a 3 run HR. Overall he allowed 4 runs in 5.1 innings. Buies Creek picked up 2 runs in the 3rd on Dawson and Duarte RBI doubles. Unfortunately, the offense was unable to score again as Buies Creek dropped this one 4-2.

Note: Julks is hitting .391 in 13 High-A games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (46-36) suspended 1-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Quad Cities River Bandits Twitter page advised the game will probably be resumed during August.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (9-9) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)
