Astros Minor League Recap: July 1st, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (48-34) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

James started for Fresno and had an interesting state line. He struck out 12 over 5 innings while allowing just 1 hit, but he allowed 3 runs and walked 4. The offense was only able to pick up one run in the first inning on a Davis sac fly. They had 10 hits and 4 walks but were 0-for-9 with RISP. Also, Tucker was tossed early in the game for arguing balls and strikes.

Note: Straw is hitting .385 in 15 AAA games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (50-29) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks scored early getting a run in the 2nd inning on a Rojas solo HR, a run in the 3rd on an Alvarez RBI single, and a run in the 4th on a Pineda solo HR. Martin got the start and was very good allowing 1 earned run over 6 innings of work. Pineda would add another HR, this time a 2 runs shot to make it 5-2. Smith and Winkelman had scoreless outings in relief to close it out.

Note: Martin has a 1.85 ERA with 65 K in 68 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (46-34) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodgers made another rehab appearance and was solid allowing 1 run over 4 innings. Buies Creek would tie the game in the 5th on a Duarte solo HR. In the 8th inning, Duarte had an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1. Adcock pitched the final 5 innings without allowing a run to pickup the win.

Note: Duarte is hitting .444 with 2 HR, 8 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (45-36) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities got on the board in the 3rd on an RBI single from Beer. Lacroix added a sac fly in the 4th. Solomon started for Quad Cities and allowed 2 runs over 5 innings. Taylor connected on a solo HR in the 6th inning to give Quad Cities a 3-2 lead. Mushinski and Feldmann closed it out with scoreless outings.

Note: Solomon has a 2.27 ERA with 49 K in 43.2 innings over his last 10 outings.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (8-8) lost 9-8 (BOX SCORE)
