Astros Minor League Recap: July 17th, 2018

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (55-40) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Fresno blew this game open early scoring 4 runs in the 3rd on a Fisher RBI single, Alvarez 2 run single, and Mayfield RBI double. The picked up 3 more in the 4th on a Marisnick 2 run HR and Davis RBI single. James got the start and was cruising but ran into a little trouble in the 6th allowing 3 runs. On the night he had 12 K in 6 innings allowing those 3 runs. Giles, Deetz and Boshers all had scoreless innings with 2 K in relief to close it.

Note: James has 128 K in 80.2 innings this season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (61-33) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Alcala got the start and was really good. He went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs on a 2 run HR in the 5th. He also struck out 8. The Hooks tied the game up in the 5th getting 2 runs over their own on a Wrenn 2 run HR. Frisco scored 1 run in the 9th to take the lead but the Hooks would rally. In the 9th the Hooks got a McCormick sac fly to tie it and a de Oleo walk-off RBI single to win it 4-3.

Note: Alcala has a 2.97 ERA with 81 K in 78.2 innings this season.
