Astros Minor League Recap: July 12th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (52-38) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Sneed started for Fresno last night but struggled with his command as he walked 6 in just 2.2 innings. He only allowed 1 run though. Fresno got on the board in the 2nd on Alvarez and Ritchie solo HRs, their first in AAA. Garza relieved Sneed and allowed 3 runs in 1.2 innings. Fresno picked up a run in the 8th on a Reed sac fly but that is all they could get as they dropped this one 4-3.

Note: Straw is hitting .337 with 15 BB/17 SO, 15 SB in 23 AAA games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (58-31) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Bielak started for the Hooks and was solid again as he went 5 innings allowing 1 unearned run while striking out 5. The Hooks got on the board firs with an RBI triple from Wrenn and a sac fly from Cesar. They picked up 2 more runs in the 4th on a Cesar RBI double and Birk sac fly. Corpus Christi picked up an insurance run when Birk scored on a wild pitch in the 9th inning. Unfortunately, Pinales was unable to secure the win as he allowed 4 runs in the 9th and Midland walked it off.

Note: Bielak has a 1.63 ERA with 89 K in 72.0 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (52-39) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bailey got the start for Buies Creek and was good tossing 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. Buies Creek only scored 2 runs with both scoring on an error in the first inning. Adcock relieved Bailey and tossed 3 scoreless innings himself. DeJuneas made his Astros debut and picked up the save as he tossed a perfect 9th inning.

Note: Meyers is hitting .357 over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (51-39) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities got on the board with 2 runs scoring on an error in the 2nd inning. Solomon started and allowed 1 unearned run over his 5 innings of work. They picked up another run in the 4th and Angarita added an RBI double in the 8th. Duncan had a perfect 9th to pick up the save.

Note: Solomon has a 2.21 ERA with 81 K in 69.1 innings this season.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (15-11) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
