Astros Minor League Recap: June 3rd, 2018

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (34-23) SUSPENDED


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (33-23) lost 13-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rough day for the Hooks’ pitching staff. Hartman got the start and allowed 7 runs over 2.2 innings. He was relieved by Justin Ferrell who held his own and struck out 5 over 2.1 scoreless innings. The offense only scored once on a solo HR from Cesar in the 7th inning. Hiraldo, Pinales, and Sierra all allowed runs in relief in the blowout.

Note: Cesar is hitting .409 with 4 HR, 7 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (32-24) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Valdez got the start in this one and pitched well but allowed 3 unearned runs following an error. The offense first got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Payano RBI single. They scored again in the 4th on a Matijevic RBI groundout to make it 3-2. In the bottom of the 5th Buies Creek got 2 runs on an Angarita 2 run single. Bielak closed the game out with 4 scoreless innings to get the save.

Note: Bielak has a 2.36 ERA with 14 BB/64 K in 45.2 innings this year.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (32-25) won 11-7 (BOX SCORE)

Nice come from behind win for the River Bandits. Rosado got the start and allowed 3 runs in 2 innings. He was relieved by Feldman who allowed 3 runs and the River Bandits found themselves down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd. Tovalin got Quad Cities on the board with an RBI double in the 3rd. The River Bandits inched closed in the 4th getting 4 runs on an Adams RBI single and Tovalin 3 run HR. Beloit picked up another run in the 7th to make it 7-5. The River Bandits would rally again getting 6 tuns in the bottom of the 7th on an Arauz RBI walk, Julks RBI walk, Adams 2 run double, Garcia RBI single and another run scoring on an error. Sanabria closed it out with 2 scoreless innings. Sandoval tossed 4 innings allowing 1 unearned run in relief.

Note: Sandoval last 8 outings – 1.42 ERA, 38.0 IP, 29 H, 6 ER, 7 BB, 43 K
