Astros Minor League Recap: June 22nd, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (45-28) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

The game got away early for Fresno as Hauschild allowed 6 runs in the first two innings. Fresno tried to rally back getting 3 runs in the 4th on a 3 run HR and one in the 5th on a Reed RBI single. Fresno would get another run in the 8th on a Nunez RBI single but would drop this one 7-5.

Note: Tucker is hitting .413 with 15 RBI in 18 games in June


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (47-26) won 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Valdez started and tossed 4 shutout innings throwing 48 pitches before being pulled. After Hill tossed a scoreless 5th, Perez came in and threw 3 scorless innings himself. de Oleo got the Hooks on the board with a 2 run HR in the 5th. Corpus Christi got some insurance on a McCormick RBI double in the 7th and a Cesar little league HR in the 8th (triple and scored on error). This extended his hitting streak to 39 games. Ferrell closed it out striking out 2 in a perfect 9th.

Note: Ferrell last 12 outings – 15 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 22 K


A+: Buies Creek Astros (38-33) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey started for Buies Creek but struggled allowing 4 runs, 2 earned over 4.2 innings. Matijevic got the Astros on the board with a solo HR in the first inning, his 9th of the season. LaRue pitched 3 innings in relief allowing 3 runs to widen the deficit. Buies Creek would get a run in the 9th on a Duarte RBI single but would fall 7-2.

Note: Matijevic is slugging .553 with 12 2B, 9 HR in 50 games this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (40-32) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Solis made his 5th start of the season and this one was his best yet as he allowing just 1 run over 5 innings. The River Bandits tied it in the 7th with Mattix scoring on a wild pitch. Solis was relieved by Ramirez who allowed 2 runs in 3 innings and Aquino allowed a run in the 9th and that was the difference in the 4-1 lost.

Note: De La Cruz is hitting .361 with 7 RBI, 6 BB/5 K over his last 10 games.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (4-4) lost 11-4 (BOX SCORE)
