Astros Minor League Recap: June 17th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (42-27) won 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Armenteros starts for Fresno last night and was solid allowing just 1 run over his 5 innings of work. The Grizzlies got on the board in the 6th on a Mayfield RBI double and Tanielu RBI single. Fresno got some insurance in the 9th inning getting 4 runs with a run scoring on a wild pitch, a run scoring on an error, and a Davis 2 run double. The bullpen was solid tossing four scoreless innings.

Note: McCurry has a 1.88 ERA with 15 K in 14.1 innings over his last 10 outings.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (42-26) won 8-6 (BOX SCORE)

Perez started for the Hooks and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs with 6 strikeouts. Corpus Christi entered the 6th inning down 2-0 but tied the game on an Alvarez 2 run HR. After San Antonio took the lead in the bottom of the 6th, the Hooks scored 4 in the top of the 7th on a Sierra RBI single, Wrenn RBI single, Rojas RBI single and Alvarez RBI single. San Antonio tied it up at 6 but the Hooks would rally again scoring twice on a Rojas RBI single and another run scoring on an error. Ferrell tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to close it out as he picked up the win.

Note: Ferrell last 10 outings – 0.00 ERA, 13.0 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 18 K


A+: Buies Creek Astros (37-32) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Another rough day for the Buies Creek offense. They picked up a run in the first on a Matijevic RBI double. Bailey started for Buies Creek and allowed 3 runs in the first inning. He ended up going 3.2 innings allowing those 3 runs. Adams added an RBI single in the 8th but that is all the offense would get as Buies Creek dropped this one 4-2.

Note: Matijevic has a .914 OPS in 48 games this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (40-30) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a Sierra 2 run HR in the first inning. Angarita added an RBI single in the 3rd inning. Hensley and Mattix added RBI singles in the 5th inning to make it 5-1. Ramirez started for the River Bandits and allowed 1 run in 5 innings. The bullpen tossed 4 solid innings with Feldmann closing it out.

Note: Paredes has a 1.99 ERA with 41 K in 31.2 innings this season.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (1-2) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
