Astros Minor League Recap: May 3rd, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (18-10) 

Game 1 – won 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Fresno jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in this one on a Tucker RBI groundout and Davis RBI double in the firs inning. Armenteros made the start and was solid allowing 3 runs over 5 innings. Fresno picked up another run on a groundout in the 5th to tie it at 3. Nunez came through with the big hit of the game, a 3 run triple in the 6th to take a 6-3 lead. McCurry allowed two runs but was still able to pick up the save.

Note: White is hitting .412 with 2 HR, 7 RBI, 9 BB/5 SO over his last 10 games.

Game 2 – lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Hauschild got the start and allowed 4 runs over 4 innings. Fresno finally got on the board in the 5th on a Reed RBI triple and Davis RBI single. That is all they would get in the game though as the offense went silent.

Note: Tucker is hitting .340 with 10 RBI over his last 11 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (16-11) lost 12-6 (BOX SCORE)

Martin made his AA debut last night and it didn’t go well as he allowed 6 runs while retiring just one batter before being pulled. Jones got the Hooks on the board in the 2nd inning with a solo HR. Tanielu RBI single, De Goti RBI double, and Birk RBI single picked up 3 more runs in the 2nd. In the 6th, Tanielu connected on a solo HR to make it 10-5. The Hooks would get one more in the 9th on a Rojas RBI single but the initial deficit proved to be too much as the Hooks dropped this one 12-6.

Note: Jones is hitting .412 with 3 HR, 9 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (17-10) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Adcock got the start last night and was fantastic as he tossing 6 scoreless innings picking up 8 strikeouts. McCormick put the Astros on the board with a 3 run HR in the 3rd inning. Duarte added some insurance with a solo HR in the 7th. Blanco was able to pick up the save with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Adcock has a 1.21 ERA with 29 K in 22.1 innings this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (13-12) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Nice pitching day for the River Bandits. Ramirez got the start and went 5 shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. Two sac flies in the 4th got Quad Cities on the board. In the 7th the River Bandits picked up 3 more on a Shaver 2 run HR and Arauz RBI single. Solomon and Corniel were great in relief picking up the save.

Note: Arauz is hitting .316 with 2 HR, 10 RBI over his last 10 games..
