Astros Minor League Playoff Recap: September 13th, 2017

Quad Cities got the Championship Series started off right!

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (1-0) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

The River Bandits opened the Championship Series last night. Javier has been brilliant in the playoffs and got the start. He struggled a bit allowing 3 runs over 3.2 innings, though he did have 6 strikeouts. The offense more than made up for it early on.

Quad Cities jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Robinson had an RBI groundout for the first run, Toro-Hernandez added an RBI triple, and Matijevic capped the scoring with a 3 run HR to make it 5-0. Robinson added a solo HR in the 3rd for the 6th run.

The bullpen was great in relief of Javier. Balaguer went 3.0 innings allowing just 1 hit and 0 runs while striking out 7 batters. He was relieved by Corniel who threw 2.1 scoreless innings to pick up the save and secure the win.

Note: Moran is hitting .400 (10-for-25) in 7 playoff games.
