Astros Minor League Recap: April 10th, 2017
Three of the four minor league teams in action last night. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games yesterday.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (3-2) lost 5-2 (BOX SCORE)
The Astros top prospect, Francis Martes, made his AAA debut and pitched well tossing five shutout innings allowing five hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. Teoscar connected on a solo HR in the first inning to give Fresno a 1-0 lead. The game would stay 1-0 until the 7th inning when things fell apart. Guduan allowed 5 hits and 5 runs while retiring just two batters. White tried to start a comeback with a solo HR in the bottom of the 7th but that is all Fresno would get as they fell 5-2.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-1) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)
The Hooks continue their solid play. Another debut, this time Dykxhoorn making his debut for Corpus. He pitched well allowing 2 runs over 4 innings with 4 strikeouts. Corpus jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a solo HR from Mayfield and an RBI single from Garcia in the first inning. Dykxhoorn was eventually relieved by Joshua James who tossed four shutout innings in relief. Corpus re-took the lead in the 5th on a Laureano RBI groundout. Comer came into the game in the 9th inning and slammed the door shut with a scoreless outing to pick up the save.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (5-0) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)
Buies Creek keeps on rolling. Spring standout, Framber Valdez, got the start in this one. He struggled with his command early, and was plagued by errors but finished allowing 2 runs (0 earned) with 4 BB/6 K in 4.0 IP. Buies Creek got their first run in the first inning thanks to an RBI double from Correa. They would add another in the 4th on a Ryne Birk RBI single and took the lead on a Martin RBI single in the 5th. Quiala relieved Valdez and was dominant. He pitched four scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit with 8 strikeouts. Ferrell made his second appearance of the season and picked up the save with a scoreless 9th, including 2 strikeouts.
