Astros Minor League Playoff Recap: September 9th

The playoffs continued last night. Let’s take a look at how the teams performed.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (1-2) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Heartbreaking loss last night for the Hooks. Armenteros got the start and allowed 1 run over his 5 innings of work. The Hooks entered the 4th down 1-0 but exploded for 5 runs to take a commanding lead. In that inning they got a 3 run HR from Boyd, a Ferguson RBI double and a Stubbs RBI single. Midland got one back in the 7th inning but the Hooks entered the 9th up 5-2. Midland got one run home and had the bases loaded with two outs. Unfortunately, Rosa came through for Midland hitting a walk-off grand slam and putting Corpus Christi in a 2-1 hole.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (2-1) won 21-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Jethawks are moving on to the Divisional Finals! After putting up 17 runs two nights ago, Lancaster decied to up that by putting up 21 runs last night. Bostick was solid last night allowing 4 runs over 6.2 innings. Lancaster entered the 3rd down 3-0 but they put together some impressive innings. In the 3rd, they got a Duarte 2 run HR and a Martin grand slam for 6 total in the 3rd. They put up 5 in the 4th on a Duarte RBI single, Sewald sac fly, Mizell RBI single, and Martin RBI single with another scoring on an error. They weren’t even close to stopping. They only got one run in the 5th on a Sewald RBI triple but got 4 more in the 6th on a Martin 2 run HR and Tucker 2 run HR. Muniz added a 3 run HR in the 7th to make it 19-4. They scored two more runs on errors in the 8th to give them 21 runs, and it was more than enough.
