Astros Minor League Playoff Recap: September 10th

The playoffs continued last night. Let’s take a look at how the teams performed.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (1-3) lost 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Corpus Christi season ended last night with them falling to Midland. Sneed started last night for the Hooks and 3 runs over his 4 innings of work. Corpus fell behind 5-0 after 5 innings. They attempted to rally getting an RBI single from Laureano in the 8th to finally get them on the board. Ferguson added an RBI single in the 9th but that is all they would get as they fell 5-2. It was a very good season for the Hooks but ends with a playoff exit.

  • Cy Sneed, RHP: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
  • Kyle Smith, RHP: 3.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
  • Kevin Comer, RHP: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (1-0) won 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Lancaster got the divisional series started off right with a win last night. Hernandez got the start allowing 3 runs over 5 innings. Lancaster fell behind 1-0 but tied it the next half inning on a Straw RBI single. They would then fall behind 3-1 but would tie it right back up on a Duarte 2 run HR. The game went into the 8th tied at three but Muniz came through with a clutch 2 run single. Woodward followed with an RBI single of his own to make it 6-3. Thome tossed 1.1 shutout innings to seal the game one win. Muniz now has 8 RBI in the 4 playoff games.
