Huge week for Teoscar. He has been great since his promotion to AAA and is hitting .337 with 4 HR, 20 RBI in 28 AAA games. Reed has hit the ball really well since rejoining Fresno. Nice to see him hit 3 HR in a week as well. He has 21 2B, 14 HR in 69 AAA games. Kemmer has heated up recently hitting .273 with 4 HR since the All-Star break. Moon has moved around a bunch but no matter where he goes, he always seems to be a sparkplug and produce.
Another good week for Rodgers. He has really had a phenomenal season posting a 2.59 ERA with 17 BB/94 K in 107.2 innings. Musgrove had a great month of July going 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in three July starts. It also looks like he will get promoted to the Astros. Peacock has been up and down with more up lately. He is striking guys out with 102 over 102.1 innings this season.
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (63-44) went 2-5 this week.
- Danry Vasquez, OF: .333 BA (5-for-15), 4 R, 2B, 3B, HR, 4 RBI

- Evan Grills, LHP: 8.1 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
Rough week for the offense. Vasquez has returned from his injury a few months ago and put together a decent season. He has a .265 BA with 17 BB/24 K in 60 games. Davis has been up and down a bit but is still showing good pop with 24 2B, 16 HR in 94 games. Laureano has been a breakout candidate this season dominating at Lancaster before his promotion. He played well in the few games this week but has missed the last couple due to a suspension from the brawl last week.
Martes was flat out dominant this week. The 20 year old struck out 9 over 7 innings lowering his season ERA to 3.76 and giving him 89 K in 88.2 innings. Thornton was promoted to AA and made his debut this week which went well. He gave up 2 runs but both came on a 2 run HR. Yuhl has struggled for a while but found his groove again this week with the five shutout innings. Nice to see Sneed have a good start after a few rough ones.
A+: Lancaster Jethawks (59-47) went 5-2 this week.
- Johnny Sewald, OF: .400 BA (8-for-20), 5 R, 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 3 SB
- Drew Ferguson, OF: .474 BA (9-for-19), 6 R, 2 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 3 SB
- Bryan Muniz, 1B: .280 BA (7-for-25), 3 R, 3 RBI
- Trent Woodward, C: .333 BA (6-for-18), 2 R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI
- Joshua James, RHP: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
- Akeem Bostick, RHP: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 8 K
- Rogelio Armenteros, RHP: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
- Dean Deetz, RHP: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
- Kevin McCanna, RHP: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
Sewald has really picked it up of late raising his season average to .300 with a .398 OBP. Ferguson has played great recently too. He is now hitting .285 with 20 2B, 9 HR, 26 SB in 76 games for the Jethawks. Besides Sewald and Ferguson there weren’t any great weeks for Lancaster but many guys had a solid game or two to help them to a 5-2 record.
Some solid pitching this week for the Jethawks. Bostick struggled with his command a bit but was able to strike out 8 over 4 innings of work. He now has a very respectable 3.16 ERA with Lancaster. Armenteros continues to strike guys out at a good rate. Now has 94 K in 74.2 innings. Deetz was one of my breakout candidates with solid performances back to back he now has a 4.00 ERA, which isn’t bad at all for the California League.
A: Quad Cities Riverbandits (51-54) went 3-3 this week.
- Myles Straw, OF: .478 BA (11-for-23), 5 R, 2 2B, 3B, 2 RBI, SB
- Dexture McCall, 1B: .294 BA (5-for-17), 2 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI
- Stephen Wrenn, OF: .261 BA (6-for-23), R, 3B, 2 RBI, SB
- Kristian Trompiz, SS: .412 BA (7-for-17), R, 2B, HR, 5 RBI
- Franklin Perez, RHP: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
- Chris Murphy, RHP: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
- Yoanys Quiala, RHP: 8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
- Ralph Garza, RHP: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
- Hector Perez, RHP: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
- Framber Valdez, LHP: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Straw has really been unbelievable this season. With another fantastic week he is up to a .360 BA in 59 games for Quad Cities. McCall has hit well all season but some of the power is starting to come, including a 2 homer game this week. Wrenn got promoted to the River Bandits and is looking like he might be a steal in the 2016 draft. Trompiz has been coming up big for Quad Cities. He had a walk-off hit this week and a game winning hit in the 11th in another game.
Franklin Perez has been great this season. At just 18 years old he has a 2.90 ERA with 13 BB/54 K in 49.2 innings this season. Garza has been very good in relief. His 6 innings this week came in 3 outings. He now has a 2.33 ERA this season. Perez was promoted from Tri-City and made his second start this week and it was a good one. The 20 year old now has 10 K in his first 9.2 innings.
LINE OF THE WEEK:
Francis Martes, RHP, 07/27/16: 7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K (WIN)
Drew Ferguson, OF, 07/28/16: 4-for-4, 2 R, 2 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 SB
