Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 9th

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (64-53) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)
Not much production from the offense last night for Fresno. Yuhl made his AAA debut and went 6 innings allowing 4 runs with 0 BB/9 K. Fresno was shutout until the 6th inning when Fisher his a solo HR, his first HR in AAA. That was the only run they would score as they only managed five hits on the night.

Tough loss for Corpus as they only scored 1 run with 8 hits on the night. Grills got the start and allowed 4 runs in 6 innings of work. The only run the Hooks scored came when Tanielu scored on a double play in the 7th inning. As was the same with Fresno, they just couldn’t come through with the big hit. Smith did toss three scoreless innings in relief though.

Great pitching leads Lancaster to the win last night. James started for Lancaster and allowed 1 run over 6 innings of work. That 1 run came in the 1st inning. The Jethawks got their scoring started in the 3rd scoring 5 runs on an RBI double from Duarte, 2 run double from Ferguson, Muniz RBI single, and a Martin RBI triple. They would add to their lead with 3 runs in the 5th inning on a Martin RBI single and Ritchie 2 run double. E. Hernandez made his return to Lancaster and tossed a scoreless 7th. Garza closed the game with 2 scoreless innings.

Nice bounce back win for Quad Cities. Barrios made his Quad Cities debut for 2016 and pitched well allowing 1 run over 6.2 innings. Wrenn got the offense going with a solo HR in the 1st inning, his 1st HR with Quad Cities. The River Bandits would put up a four spot in the 2nd inning on a 2 run double from Michelena, RBI single from Straw, and RBI groundout from Wrenn. Cesar added a solo HR in the 5th to extend the lead. Murphy tossed the last 2.1 innings allowing just 1 run.
