Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 9th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (64-53) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Not much production from the offense last night for Fresno. Yuhl made his AAA debut and went 6 innings allowing 4 runs with 0 BB/9 K. Fresno was shutout until the 6th inning when Fisher his a solo HR, his first HR in AAA. That was the only run they would score as they only managed five hits on the night.

  • Keegan Yuhl, RHP: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
  • Aaron West, RHP: 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (68-47) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss for Corpus as they only scored 1 run with 8 hits on the night. Grills got the start and allowed 4 runs in 6 innings of work. The only run the Hooks scored came when Tanielu scored on a double play in the 7th inning. As was the same with Fresno, they just couldn’t come through with the big hit. Smith did toss three scoreless innings in relief though.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (64-50) won 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Great pitching leads Lancaster to the win last night. James started for Lancaster and allowed 1 run over 6 innings of work. That 1 run came in the 1st inning. The Jethawks got their scoring started in the 3rd scoring 5 runs on an RBI double from Duarte, 2 run double from Ferguson, Muniz RBI single, and a Martin RBI triple. They would add to their lead with 3 runs in the 5th inning on a Martin RBI single and Ritchie 2 run double. E. Hernandez made his return to Lancaster and tossed a scoreless 7th. Garza closed the game with 2 scoreless innings.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (55-59) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Nice bounce back win for Quad Cities. Barrios made his Quad Cities debut for 2016 and pitched well allowing 1 run over 6.2 innings. Wrenn got the offense going with a solo HR in the 1st inning, his 1st HR with Quad Cities. The River Bandits would put up a four spot in the 2nd inning on a 2 run double from Michelena, RBI single from Straw, and RBI groundout from Wrenn. Cesar added a solo HR in the 5th to extend the lead. Murphy tossed the last 2.1 innings allowing just 1 run.
