Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 8th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (64-52) lost 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Peacock was back on the mound for the Grizzlies after a short stint with the Astros. He 7 innings allowing 4 runs. Fresno scored first getting 2 runs in the 2nd inning with Singleton scoring on an error and a Fontana sac fly. Unfortunately the offense only managed five total hits and were unable to get anything else going ad they fell 5-2.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (68-46) OFF

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (63-50) OFF

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (54-59) lost 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss losing in extras. Quad Cities got off to a good start getting a run in the first inning on a Tucker RBI single. They got another in the 2nd inning on Trompiz solo HR. Quiala was on the mound for the River Bandits and went 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs with 8 strikeouts. Quad Cities entered the bottom of the the down 3-2 but put up 2 runs with Straw scoring on a balk and a McCall RBI single. Burlington tied it up at 4 in the 7th inning. The game would got to extra innings and stayed tied at 4 until the 15th inning when Burlington dropped 4 runs. Quad Cities was unable to respond.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (28-22) lost 14-3 (BOX SCORE)

ROOKIE: Greeneville Astros (25-20) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
