Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 7th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (64-51) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno won this one in extras. Hauschild started for the Grizzlies last night and had another great start. He went 6.2 shutout innings allowing just 4 hits with 5 strikeouts lowering his season ERA to 2.96. Fresno got on the board first when Kemmer and Worth pulled off a double steal, which included Kemmer stealing home. The game stayed 1-0 until the 9th inning but El Paso was able to tie it off Jankowski. It didn’t take long for Fresno to retake the lead as Moran crushed a 2 run HR in the 10th inning. Gustave tossed a scoreless 10th to pick up the save.

Martes got the start for the Hooks last night and dominated again. He went 7 innings allowing 1 run with 7 strikeouts. This was his third dominant outing in a row and could be pushing for a callup to AAA. Corpus got the scoring started with a McDonald RBI double in the 2nd inning. McDonald added an RBI single in the 4th to extend the lead to 2-0. Nunez capped off the scoring for the Hooks with an RBI single in the 7th. A+: Lancaster Jethawks (63-50) lost 12-10 (BOX SCORE)
This was definitely a shootout in the desert last night. Lancaster got on the board first with a Gurriel RBI double in the first inning. Modesto responded by putting up 5 in the 2nd inning and 4 in the 4th inning. Dykxhoorn started for the Jethawks and gave up 10 runs over 5 innings. Lancaster entered the 6th inning down 10-1 but rallied for 6 runs on a Martin sac fly, Duarte RBI walk, and a Gurriel grand slam. Modesto responded with two of their own in the 7th but the Jethawks came right back with a 2 run HR from Martin, his 18th of the season. Lancaster would make it closer on a solo HR from Duarte to bring the game to 12-10. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t get anything else going and lost by this score. NOTE: This should be Gurriel’s last game with Lancaster and will be joining Corpus on Tuesday.
