Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 3rd
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (61-49) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno keeps rolling. The Grizzlies got off to a good start on a 2 run HR from Moran in the 2nd inning. Cotton made his first start of the season and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs with 3 strikeouts. Singleton added a solo HR in the 4th to make it a 3-2 game. Las Vegas battled back getting a run in the 6th to tie it. The game stayed tied at 3 until the 11th inning. In the 11th, Kemmer came through with a 2 out, 2 run single to give Fresno the lead. Jankowski pitched the bottom of the 11th and struck out the side to pick up the save.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (66-44) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)
One big inning lifted Corpus to the win. The game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Corpus exploded for 6 runs. In that inning they got an RBI walk from Ramsay, RBI walk from Tanielu, and a grand slam from Fisher to cap it off. Grills got the start and was brilliant. He went 7.2 innings allowing just 2 runs, both unearned, with 12 strikeouts. Peterson pitched the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run to seal the win.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (60-49) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)
This game started out well as Lancaster scored 2 runs in the first inning on a Duarte solo HR and a Muniz sac fly. Armenteros got the start and pitched well allowing 3 runs in 5 innings with 6 strikeouts. Lake Elsinore took the lead 5th and continued to play add on. Lancaster got a run back in the 8th on a Ferguson sac fly and another in the 9th on Marlow RBI single but they couldn’t get any more falling 7-4/

This game got away from Quad Cities in the 1st inning when Peoria put up 4 runs on Bower. Bower allowed 6 runs total over his 5 innings of work. Quad Cities did get on the board in the 7th with an RBI double from Birk but that is all they would get. Person tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief but the offense fell short.
