Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 30th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (70-67) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Tough loss late for the Grizzlies. Valdez got the start last night and put together another solid outing going 7 innings allowing just 3 runs. Fresno got on the board in the 4th with a solo HR from Worth. In the 5th inning Fontana added a solo HR to cut the deficit to 1 run. Moran came through with a clutch 2 out RBI single to tie the game at 3 in the 8th inning. Tacoma responded immediately though getting a 2 run HR to take a 5-3 lead. Fresno put the tying runs on base in the 9th but were unable to score.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (81-53) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)
Sneed was on the mound for the Hooks last night and while he struggled a bit early, he fought through it and went 6 innings allowing just 3 runs. Corpus got on the board in the 1st inning a Tucker RBI groundout. In the 3rd inning Boyd came through with an RBI double to make it a 3-2 game. Corpus would take a 5-3 lead in the 4th getting 3 runs on a Ramsay RBI double and a Pena 2 run double. Frisco tied the game at 5 in the 6th but Corpus would retake the lead on a Tanielu RBI single in the 9th. Peterson closed the game out with 3 scoreless innings.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (73-61) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)
Lancaster inches closer to clinching a playoff spot with the win. James got the start and while he allowed 8 hits over 5.1 innings, he only allowed 3 runs while striking out 7. Lancaster got on the board in the 1st inning on a Tucker RBI groundout. After RC took the lead with 2 in the 2nd, the Jethawks retook the lead in the bottom of the inning on a 2 run HR from Martin. Martin added another HR in the 4th to give Lancaster a 4-3 lead. It was Martin’s 21st and 22nd HRs of the season. Rancho Cucamonga tied it in the 7th but the Jethawks would retake the lead in the 8th on a Sewald RBI single. Thome tossed a scoreless 9th to pick up the save.
