Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 28th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (69-66) lost 8-6 (BOX SCORE)
This game got away from Fresno late. Fresno jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a Stassi 3 run HR in the 2nd inning. After allowing a run in the 3rd, they responded with 3 more runs on a Garcia RBI single, Stassi RBI single, and another run scoring on a wild pitch. Yuhl got the start for Fresno, and while it started well, he finished going 5.1 innings allowing 6 runs. Sacramento capped off their comeback effort with a 4 run 6th and 1 more runs in the 8th to make it 8-6. Fresno was unable to get the bats going again as they fell 8-6 in the last home game of the season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (80-52) won 6-0 (BOX SCORE)
Deetz made his Double-A last night for the Hooks and was great. He tossed six shutout innings while striking out nine batter with no walks. Davis got the Hooks on the board with a solo HR in the bottom of the 2nd inning, his 21st HR of the season. McDonald added the 2nd run of the night on a solo HR himself, his 17th HR of the season. The Hooks would add three more in the 6th with 2 runs scoring on an error and a McDonald RBI single. Deemes tossed two scoreless innings in relief and Comer closed the game with a scoreless 9th.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (72-61) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)
Tough loss late for the Jethawks. The game got off to a good start as they got a run in the first inning on a Woodward RBI double and another run in the 2nd on a Ballard RBI single. Weathersby got the start and gave up 2 runs in his 4 innings of work. McCanna came in relief of Weathersby and pitched great. The Rice product tossed 4.2 scoreless innings striking out 6 batters. Unfortunately, after the 2nd inning the offense failed to produce a run and Modesto won in a walk-off in the 11th.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (58-73) lost 6-3 (BOX SCORE)
The fall for Quad Cities continues. They fell behind early with Wisconsin scoring twice in the first but they would respond with two runs of their own on a 2 run double from McCall. Wisconsin would play add on eventually extending their lead to 6-2. Roa added an RBI triple in the 8th to make it 6-3. Sierra struck out 7 in his 4 innings and Ferrell tossed 2 scoreless innings but it wasn’t enough.
