Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 20th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (66-60) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Recently promoted to AAA, Paulino made his Fresno debut. He finished going 4 innings allowing 4 earned runs and 7 strikeouts. Fresno got on the board first though on a solo HR from Fisher in the 2nd inning. They would add another run in the 6th on a Kemmer RBI double but weren’t able to get anything else going. Guduan tossed three scoreless innings in relief.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (74-51) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Martes was on the mound for the Hooks last night and while he pitched well, he walked away with the loss. He finished going 7 innings allowing 3 runs with 7 strikeouts. The game started off great though as Corpus jumped on the board with 2 runs in the 1st inning on a 2 run double from Davis. After the first, the offense really struggled. Laureano did pick up two hits and Ferguson singled in his AA debut.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (70-55) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Uncharacteristic game in the California League last night as only 3 runs were scored. E. Hernandez got the start and pitched the first four innings allowing just one run. Lancaster entered the 7th inning down 1-0 but was able to tie it when Muniz doubled and scored on a Duarte RBI single. Lake Elsinore came right back though scoring a run off Weathersby in the 8th to take a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately the Jethawks went down in order in the 9th and fell 2-1.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (58-66) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Really rough night for the River Bandits offense. Chavez made his Quad Cities debut going 4 innings while allowing 3 runs with 4 strikeouts. The River Bandits only had one hit going into the 9th inning. In the 9th inning Quad Cities finally got on the board when Rogers tripled and scored on an error and on a McCall RBI single. It wasn’t enough as they fell 4-2. Hernandez tossed two scoreless innings in his debut for Quad Cities.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (32-28) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

ROOKIE: Greeneville Astros (28-28) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)
