Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 11th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (65-53) OFF

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (69-48) lost 13-3 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night for Corpus. Sneed got the start and allowed 4 runs over 6 innings but did have 1 BB/6 K. Corpus got on the board in the 1st inning on a Davis sac fly. In the 5th inning they Davis added an RBI double. They added 1 more in the 6th on a Nunez RBI single to make it a 4-3 game. Unfortunately the bullpen allowed 9 runs over the final two innings to put the game out of reach.

  • Cy Sneed, RHP: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (65-51) won 8-6 (BOX SCORE)

Bostick was on the mound for the Jethawks last night and 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs. Lancaster got on the board with a bgi 3rd inning scoring 6 runs on a Duarte RBI groundout, Boyd RBI single, Ritchie RBI single and a 2 run double from Woodward. They got another run in the 4th on a Boyd sac fly and one more in the 7th with a run scoring on an error. The bullpen was solid as Weathersby tossed 1.1 scoreless innings and Deetz picked up his first save with a perfect 9th.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (55-60) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Bower started out the season great but had a rough outing last night allowing 7 runs over 4 innings of work. Quad Cities would get their scoring started in the 6th inning getting 2 runs on a McCall 2 run double. They got another run in the on a Straw RBI single to make it 7-3. Straw added an RBI groundout in the 9th to make it 7-4 but that is all they would get. On a positive note Ferrell tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (29-24) played a double header

GAME 1 – won 13-2 (BOX SCORE)

GAME 2 – lost 7-0 (BOX SCORE)

ROOKIE: Greeneville Astros (25-23) lost 14-3 (BOX SCORE)
