Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 10th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (65-53) won 10-8 (BOX SCORE)

Fresno got back on track last night. Rodgers was on the mound last night for Fresno and it didn’t start well as he gave up 3 runs in the 1st inning. He ended up going 6 innings allowing 5 runs, though just 3 were earned. Teoscar got the scoring started with a 2 run double in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd inning they got two runs on an RBI walk to Stassi and a Singleton sac fly. They added another two runs in the 4th with Teoscar singling, scoring on an error and Fisher adding an RBI single to make it a 4-3 game. Fresno entered the 6th inning with a 6-5 lead but added some insurance. They scored 4 times in the 6th on a Fisher RBI single and a 3 run HR from Kemmer, his 13th HR of the season. The bullpen gave up a few runs but was able to hold on 10-8. Kemmer is now hitting .341 with 8 HR, 21 RBI in 27 games since the All-Star break.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (69-47) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Corpus got the scoring started in this one with a big 2nd inning. In the 2nd inning they score 4 times on a Ramsay RBI single and a Hyde 3 run double. Emanuel got the start and gave up 4 runs over 5.2 innings. It wasn’t hit sharpest outing but he kept it close. Corpus added another run in the 4th on a bases loaded walk to Stubbs. Comer tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief and Thompson picked up his 2nd save with a scoreless 9th inning.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (64-51) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tough night for the offense as they only managed four hits on the night. Armenteros got the start and gave up 4 runs (3 in the 1st inning) over 6.2 innings with 2 BB/7 K. The Jethawks got on the board in the first on a Ferguson RBI single. They would add another run in the 6th on a Ritchie RBI single to make it 4-2. Unfortunately the offense couldn’t get anything else going and they fell 4-2.
