Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 30th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (58-48) won 10-4 (BOX SCORE)
Big 9th inning for the Grizzlies. Fresno jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a Moon RBI single. Jankowksi started for Fresno and went 3.2 innings allowing 3 runs. He was relieved by McCurry who tossed 2.1 scoreless innings. The Grizzlies got another run in the 8th on a Teoscar RBI single to make it 3-2. Fresno entered the 9th down 4-2 and that is when the rally started. They ended up scoring 8 runs in the 9th with a Kemp RBI single, Reed 2 run single, Teoscar 2 run triple, Singleton RBI single, and a Moran 2 run double. Fields tossed a scoreless 9th to close it.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (63-43) lost 8-5 (BOX SCORE)
Emanuel got the start for the Hooks and the first few innings went well. He ran into some trouble giving up 1 in the 3rd and then another 3 in the 5th. He went back out for the 6th and gave up 2 more. Corpus got 2 runs in the 3rd inning on an RBI triple from Vasquez and RBI groundout from Gregor. In the 6th inning Gregor connected on a 3 run HR to bring Corpus within a run. Unfortunately the bullpen gave up 2 more and the Hooks were unable to bounce back.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (59-46) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
One big inning wins it. Bostick got the start and pitched pretty good allowing 1 unearned run over 4 innings of work. He struck out 8 but did walk 5. In the 4th Martin added a sac fly to get Lancaster on the board. In the 5th inning the Jethawks got an RBI single from Muniz and a 2 run double from Martin to take a 5-1 lead. McCanna relieved Bostick and was very good before giving up 2 runs in the 9th but Lancaster was able to hang on for the win.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (50-54) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)
Solid pitching led to the win in this one. Valdez made his first start with Quad Cities and tossed 5 innings of 1 run baseball striking out 6. Murphy relieved him and pitched even better going 4 innings with no runs allowed and 5 strikeouts. Quad Cities got on the board in the 2nd inning with an RBI single from Correa. They would add another run on a Porter solo HR in the 7th. The offense only put up 2 runs but it was just enough to squeak out the win.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (22-19) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)
Sandoval started for the ValleyCats and gave up 4 runs over his 3.1 innings of work. He did finish with 6 strikeouts though. Tri-City scored 2 runs in the 6th to make it a 4-2 game. Unfortunately Connecticut responded with 3 runs of their own to extend the their lead to 7-2. A rough night for the offense as they managed just 5 hits.
