Houston Astros Select Ronnie Dawson #61 Overall

With the 61st overall pick (2nd round), the Houston Astros select Ronnie Dawson, OF, from Ohio State University.

Dawson is a 6’2″, 225 lbs left handed hitter and thrower. He has above average raw power and a very strong arm. He will most likely end up in left field but definitely has the bat to play there. His speed is average but is a good baserunner and can steal bases, evident by his 21 stolen bases this season.

Here is his Junior season line:

.331 BA, 25 2B, 13 HR, 51 RBI, 21 SB, 37 BB/43 K in 65 games.
