Houston Astros MiLB Week in Review
Another week of Astros minor league baseball is in the books. Let’s take a look at the best performances this past week.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (26-35) went 2-4 this week.
- Danny Worth, 2B: .318 BA (7-for-22), 3 R, 3B, HR, 4 RBI, SB
- AJ Reed, 1B: .250 BA (5-for-20), 3 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
- Andrew Aplin, OF: .278 BA (5-for-18), 3 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, SB
- Colin Moran, 3B: .333 BA (6-for-18), 2 R, HR, 4 RBI
- Tyler Heineman, C: .454 BA (5-for-11), RBI
- Brady Rodgers, RHP: 8.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
- Mike Hauschild, RHP: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 2 K
- Cesar Valdez, RHP: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- James Hoyt, RHP: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 9 K
Another tough week for Fresno. Reed is back and starting to heat up a bit. He is on;y hitting .240 but has 13 2B, 8 HR in 48 games this season. Nice to see Moran get it going a bit after being sent back to AAA. Aplin has slowly put together a solid season. His OBP is now .332 and he has 13 extra base hits in 54 games. Worth continues to hit. One has to think he will get a chance at some point this season.
Rodgers lead the way last week and did so again this week. He now has a 2.90 ERA with 8 BB/66 K in 68.1 innings. A great season so far for the Houston native. Hauschild continues to be a solid innings eater for Fresno. Hoyt took a loss this week giving up 2 runs in an extra inning game but still managed to strikeout 9 in 3.2 innings. He now has 53 K in 30.2 innings this season.
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (39-22) went 5-1 this week.

- Derek Fisher, OF: .190 BA (4-for-21), 3 R, 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 3 SB
- Teoscar Hernandez, OF: .304 BA (7-for-23), 6 R, 2B, RBI, 4 SB
- Alejandro Garcia, LF: .333 BA (5-for-15), 2 R, 2B, HR, 6 RBI
- Nick Tanielu, 2B: .278 BA (5-for-18), 3 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI
- David Paulino, RHP: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
- Keegan Yuhl, RHP: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
- Francis Martes, RHP: 6.2 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K
- Aaron West, RHP: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
- Evan Grills, LHP: 4.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
- Kent Emanuel, RHP: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
After a down week Bregman picked it up in a big way this week. His average is back up to .314 and he now has 25 XBHs and 27 BB in 49 games. He also had a walk-off HR this sweek. Fisher had a down week for the average but still produced driving in 5 runs. Teoscar has been great this season. He is hitting .299 with 22 SB in 56 games. Garcia is a Cuban free agent signed by the Astros in 2015. He started in Lancaster and has now done well in Corpus hitting .275 in 12 games. Nice to see Tanielu keep hitting well after his scorching start in Lancaster.
Paulino has really proved himself this season. He now has a 1.69 ERA with 10 BB/54 K in 48.0 innings. Definitely a top 100 prospect. Yuhl continues to roll lowering his season ERA to 2.54. Martes was a prospect many were excited to see this season and while he started slow, he has picked it up recently. He had his best start of the season going 6.2 innings with 9 K. Grills has yet to falter in AA now having a 1.53 ERA in 29.1 innings.
A+: Lancaster Jethawks (32-30) went 2-4 this week.
- Ramon Laureano, OF: .238 BA (5-for-21), 3 R, 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 SB
- Brooks Marlow, 2B: .300 BA (6-for-20), 2 R, 2B
- Bobby Boyd, OF: .333 BA (6-for-18), 2 BB/2 SO
- Garrett Stubbs, C: .238 BA (5-for-21), 2 R, 2 2B, 3 RBI
- Brock Dykxhoorn, RHP: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
- Dean Deetz, RHP: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
- Rogelio Armenteros, RHP: 6.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K
- Joshua James, RHP: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
Laureano has started to hit for some power recently, which is nice to see. He is hitting .291 with 4 HR, 25 SB in 53 games on the season. Marlow has been a nice addition for Lancaster. While his average is a bit low, he has a .344 OBP. Boyd continues to lead the way for Lancaster hitting .326. He also has 26 stolen bases this season.
Dykxhoorn put together another decent start and now has a 3.83 ERA with 40 K in 51.2 innings, a very respectable number in a place like Lancaster. Even better is Armenteros. After dominating QC earlier this season he was promoted to Lancaster where he has continued his success. He has 14 BB/46 K in 37 innings for Lancaster with a 3.16 ERA. James now has a 2.82 ERA with 55 K in 44.2 innings.
A: Quad Cities Riverbandits (27-35) went 4-2 this week.

- Kristian Trompiz, SS: .319 BA (6-for-19), 3 R, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 2 SB
- Myles Straw, OF: .364 BA (8-for-22), 4 R, 2B, 2 3B, RBI, SB
- Osvaldo Duarte, SS: .478 BA (11-for-23), 7 R, 3B, HR, 4 RBI, 2 SB
- Kevin McCanna, RHP: 8.0 IP, 9 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- Chris Murphy, RHP: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
- Franklin Perez, RHP: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
- Ralph Garza, RHP: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
- Elieser Hernandez, RHP: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
Tucker was off to a solid start this week but landed on the 7 day DL. The injury and severity is not known right now. Trompiz got demoted from Lancaster but has hit well with QC. He had a big 2 run double in extras to send QC to a win. Straw has been a bit of a spark plug since joining QC and already has 4 triples in 21 games. Duarte has been on fire. Hitting .421 over his last 10 games and now .273 on the season.
McCanna pitched a heck of a game yesterday almost going the distance. He has a 3.14 ERA on the season. Murphy has put together a couple good starts in a row. 18 year old Perez had a nice start this week. The run he gave up actually scored after he left the game. Hernandez got demoted from Lancaster and in his two outings since he has gone 9 IP, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K.
