Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 13th

All four full season teams as well as the DSL squads in action. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (27-35) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Late HR lifts Fresno to victory. Hauschild got the start and was great. He went 7 innings allowing 1 run with 7 strikeouts. Fresno scored a run in the 5th on a Mayfield sac fly. That is all they would get as the score stayed 1-1 into the 9th. In the top of the 9th with two outs and two on, Mayfield crushed a 3 run HR to left field to give Fresno the lead. Hoyt came in and struck out the side in the 9th picking up his 13th save.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (40-22) won 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Corpus just keeps rolling. Yuhl got the start for the Hooks last night and once again was great. He went 5 innings allowing 0 runs with 4 strikeouts. Corpus got on the board early with a Tanielu 3 run HR in the first inning, his 4th HR of the season. Hooks added another run in the third with a McDonald RBI single. Corpus would continue to add on runs with Pena hitting two solo HRs, one in the 5th and one in the 7th. Tanielu added to his big night with an RBI double in the 6th. Paulino pitched the second half of the tandem and went 4 innings allowing just 1 run with 6 strikeouts.

  • Keegan Yuhl, RHP: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K (WIN)
  • David Paulino, RHP: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K (SAVE)

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (32-31) lost 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Offense was quiet tonight for the Jethawks. Deetz got the start and allowed 4 earned runs over 3.2 innings. Jethawks got on the board with a Boyd bases loaded walk but that was the only run they would score. Armenteros relieved Deetz and while he didn’t allow a hit, he walked 6 in 2 innings. Comer pitched the final 2.1 innings and didn’t allow a run. Unfortunately the offense wasn’t able to get anything else going.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (28-35) won 12-0 (BOX SCORE)

Big time win for QC. Ferrell got the start and pitched the best game of his season thus far going 5 innings and not allowing any runs. Quad Cities started their scoring with 3 in the 3rd thanks to an RBI single from Correa, RBI single from Duarte, and a sac fly from Trompiz. The River Bandits added 4 more in the 5th with an 2 run double from Hermelyn, RBI double from Correa, and RBI single from Michelena. Goedert tacked on 2 more runs with a double in the 8th. Abreu pitched the second part of the tandem going 4 innings allowing 1 hit, no runs, and striking out 6.
