Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 30th

Fresno, Lancaster, Quad Cities all in action. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (22-27) tied 6-6 (BOX SCORE)

Odd ending as the game ends in a tie. Fresno jumped on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to an RBI single from Aplin, RBI single from Reed and Kemmer RBI single. Valdez got the start and pitched well until the 5th inning where he gave up 5 runs. Fresno would tie it in the 7th with Worth scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Stassi. Fields gave up 1 run in the 8th to lose the lead but the Grizzlies tied is back up with a Perez HR in the bottom of the 8th. Hoyt pitched two scoreless innings with 4 K and the game ended at a tie 6-6 after 10 innings. The umpires called the game due to travel restrictions.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-20) OFF

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (24-25) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Solid win brings Lancaster within a game of .500. Dykxhoorn got the start and gave up 3 runs through 5 innings of work. Lancaster went into the bottom of the 6th down 3-0 and exploded for 6 runs. They tied the game quick with an RBI double from Trompiz and a 2 run HR from Boyd. They would add another run on a Muniz RBI groundout and a 2 run single from Nunez. Lancaster added two more runs with a 2 run HR from Sewald, his first HR with Lancaster. Thome was fantastic in relief pitching 4 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts in the win.

 

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (22-28) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss as this game went back and forth. Perez got the start for Quad Cities and went 5 innings giving up 3 runs, 2 earned, and striking out 5. Quad Cites entered the 3rd down 3-0 and got 2 runs back with RBI singles from Straw and Ballard. They would eventually tie the game in the 7th with an RBI single from Tucker. Peoria would get a run in the 8th to take the lead. The River Bandits responded with two in the bottom of the 8th with a run scoring on a wild pitch and a sac fly from Correa. Unfortunately Peoria got 2 more in the 9th off of Garza and QC couldn’t rebound.

CC: Cy Sneed (3.41 ERA)

LAN: TBD

QC: Albert Abreu (5.45 ERA)
