Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 13th
Only 3 of the 4 teams in the Astros system saw action last night, but a double header was played and there were some great pitching performances down in the farm! See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (15-19) win 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
Joe Musgrove made his AAA debut tonight for the Grizzlies and went 5 innings, only allowing 2 R, 1 ER, and striking out 5. The Grizzlies started off slow, going the first 5 innings before plating their first run of the night. Jon Singleton knocked in 3 RBI to put Fresno back into the game. Tony Kemp tied the game with a triple in the 7th, and Singleton walked it off in the 10th inning on an RBI groundout to complete the comeback. Hoyt and Chapman combined for 2 IP, 0 ER, 5 K the final two innings of the game.

Game 1: Won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)
Evan Gattis had another strong showing behind the plate as well as at the plate as he continued his AA stint, and Alex Bregman started his first professional baseball game as a 3B and more than held his own in the hot corner. Meanwhile, the Hooks did all of their damage at the plate early on, scoring all 5 runs in the first three innings, giving starting pitcher Keegan Yuhl more than enough run support to put the game away after a 3-run 3rd inning. Gattis went 3-3 with HR, 2 RBI, and Alex Bregman contributed with two hits of his own. Yuhl pitched in 5 innings and only allowed 2 ERs, bring his ERA to 3.31. Vasquez added an RBI single and McDonald had a 2 run double to left center, which was more than enough for the win.

Game 2: Won 6-0 (BOX SCORE)
In Game 2 of a double header, the Hooks bats stayed hot as they put up another 6 runs in the first two innings. Teoscar Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 R, and Derek Fisher continued his hot streak by hitting another HR, a two-run shot, in the 3rd inning. Evan Grills made his AA Debut, and pitched a masterful game, throwing a 1-Hitter in a 7 inning complete game, only walking one and striking out 5. Bregman added an RBI double to RF and played in the field at shortstop.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (13-19) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)
The Jethawks were quiet offensively, with solo HR by Tanielu and Jason Martin providing the only run support for Brock Dykxhoorn. Luckily that’s all he and the bullpen needed as Dykxhoorn pitched 6.0 innings of 1 run, 2 hit ball, walking only one. Ryan Deemes and Ryan Thompson both combined to pitch 3 perfect innings in relief to close the game, Deemes earning the Hold and Thompson the save.
