Houston Astros Minor League Recap: April 20th

Three of the four teams were in action, and all three in action won last night. Alex Bregman and the Hooks got the night off. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (7-5) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

More good pitching for Fresno leads to the win. Michael Feliz got the start and went a solid five innings allowing only two runs. Fresno manufactured a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the 4th inning Jon Kemmer crushed a 2 run HR to left field, his first HR of the season. Fresno’s bullpen came in and tossed a combined four shutout innings only allowing one hit.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (8-4) OFF

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (5-6) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

After two nights of getting hit pretty hard, Lancaster’s staff pitched a nice ball game last night. Starter, Evan Grills, went five innings giving up only one run. Nick Tanielu put together his best game of the season with three hits including 2 2B and 2 RBI. Seven different Jethawks had a hit last night and the offense has a whole drew 6 BB/6 SO. They were able to play add on with RBIs from Laureano and Trompiz. Ferrell came in for the save and pitched a perfect 9th inning. He now has gone 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K for Lancaster.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (4-10) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Back to back wins for Quad Cities, which is nice to see after losing five in a row. The River Bandits jumped out to an early lead with an RBI double from Wernes and an RBI single from Cameron in the top of the 3rd inning. Albert Abreu got the start and showed off his potential. He allowed two runs (both in the 5th) over 5.2 innings while striking out six hitters. It was tie game going to the 8th when Connor Goedert and Brooks Marlow came through with RBI hits to take the lead. Jacob Dorris finished the game with 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.

Today’s starters according to MiLB.com:

FRE: Brad Peacock (1.80 ERA)

CC: Kyle Smith (0.00 ERA)
